Christmas Parade!

Saturday night, we attended the Gibson City Christmas Parade. It was so much fun! Being new to the community, we did not know what to expect and it was actually really nice for a small community. The parade welcomes Santa into town and Santa is the very last float that comes in. There were vendors along the streets downtown selling foods such as burgers, hotdogs, caramel apples, chili, etc. There were some other items being sold as well as different bake sale tables. Jeremy ended up ordering 2 pies from a student from one of the local churches. We will get them right in time for Christmas. Below are some pictures of a few of the floats. They were really neat! And I took a picture of the streets lined with people to watch the parade. I think everyone in town was at the parade.

This one the tree was too tall to go under the power lines so they had to keep lowering and raising the trailer with the tree on it.

This is Santa's float. Hard to tell Santa and Mrs. Claus are on there since the pic is blurry!

Thanksgiving!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We hosted Jeremy's family for a couple of days and had a great time. They came in to town on Wednesday night and we had pizza for dinner. We also celebrated our niece Maggie's birthday. She will be 5 in a couple of weeks and since she lives in Chicago we probably won't see her on her birthday. We had fun having our dessert Wednesday night on Disney Princess plates.

Here is Maggie opening her present from Uncle Jeremy and Aunt Kim!

And her little brother Hank wondering why he isn't getting any presents:)

This is Jeremy working on his turkey masterpiece on Thanksgiving Day! We had a wonderful Thanksgiving meal. It was a nice relaxing day. Thanks Jan and Jeremy for doing all the work! We had turkey, ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, green bean casserole, rolls, cranberry sauce. Then for dessert, Darci & Kyle picked up a yummy Pumpkin Cheesecake from a great bakery in Chicago. We ate around noon so we were able to eat leftovers later, yum, leftover turkey and ham sandwiches with mayo....my fave! We relaxed and played games, watched a lot of football and just hung out. We had cheap entertainment with the kiddos being around.
Darci & Kyle and the kids left on Friday and John and Jan stayed until Saturday. Jan and I did a little Black Friday shopping in the afternoon on Friday. We found some great bargains. Jan was a huge help as she helped me put up 2 of our Christmas trees. Pics of our trees are to come in a future post. We had a great weekend, we even took everyone to Jeremy's school to run around in the gym and burn some energy and some turkey:) It was fun!
Hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving!

Almost Thanksgiving!

I can't believe Thanksgiving is almost here! Time sure does fly! We will be having Jeremy's family over to our house for a couple of days over Thanksgiving. We are looking forward to seeing our niece Maggie and our nephew Hank! Our Thanksgiving menu will consist of Turkey, Ham, Potatoes, Gravy, Green bean casserole, Cranberry sauce (just for you Jan!), and Rolls. We will then have Pumpkin Cheesecake for dessert! We are looking forward to it.
I was home by myself this weekend so Jan, my mother-in-law came to stay with me. Jeremy had a conference in Chicago that I was supposed to attend as well, but thought I should stay home instead. It was going to be a really busy weekend. He got to Chicago Friday night around 6 and left Saturday morning around 10, which he then headed to Morrison, IL to attend the GCMS high school state semi final football game. Morrison is 3 1/2 hours from Gibson City. He got home last night around 7:30 to turn around and leave again this morning at 4a.m. to go deer hunting.
Jan and I had fun. We went to a few places in GC Friday night and pretty much lounged around the house. We went to Champaign Saturday and they bought us a new Christmas tree for our new house in honor of Jeremy's Grandma Darnell that passed away this summer. I will be putting up our trees next weekend. I can't wait. We then enjoyed the rest of the day relaxing at home with the dogs. Jan left this morning and I have been somewhat lazy all day. I did manage to get our new address photo cards all ready to be mailed out. That was a huge task since I needed to locate some addresses. Thank goodness for whitepages.com.
Unfortunately, the GCMS Falcons lost their game but had a great season this year. It was exciting to watch. We heard the team get a police escort out of town yesterday and heard them come back into town last night.
I am looking forward to having a short work week this week. It will be nice to have a 4 day weekend. I am sure Jan and I will try to hit up some Black Friday shopping! It is always a good time.
Hope everyone has a great week!

Uppercase Living Fun!

Today, I have had a restful day at home. Jeremy went to Kewanee, IL. to watch the GCMS Falcons play in the State High School Football Playoffs. Kewanee is about 2 1/2 hours from here. He picked up his Mom and Dad on the way and they went with him. I am glad to say the Falcons beat Kewanee 32-20. They will play next weekend in the semifinals. Not sure who, when, or where they play yet. Congrats Falcons and Congrats to Mike Allen our neighbor who is the head football coach! My dogs and I have enjoyed the day by just relaxing and hanging out. I did some cleaning around the house, picked up a rotten pumpkin....boy that was fun! I had ordered some Uppercase Living stuff from a party a while back and I decided to do some of what I ordered. Here is a sneak peak of what I did...

I bought the green plate for $3. at JCPenney and added the sparkly red HO HO HO! So now I have a cute Christmas plate!

I love the welcome on the front door. I decided to get white so it would stand out a little bit.

Our laundry room needs some major decor but at least I have a start here....I haven't found exactly what I want yet for the laundry room!

This looks like it is really high, I have a really cool picture to hang underneath the Bon Appetit! We found it when we were moving. It is a pencil sketch of a wine bottle and glass that a great aunt or great great aunt of Jeremy's pencil sketched! I have a black frame to put it in so I think it will look nice underneath the Bon Appetit!
I still have a few more things I got as well that I have to figure out what I am going to do with but that will be for another post.
And I couldn't have a post and not add these precious pictures of my precious dogs!

Lucie sitting like a princess on her perch! She thinks the back of the couch is her throne! I love how she has her paws crossed sitting like a true princess!

Dee loves to sunbathe. I think it feels good on her old achey bones! She is such a good dog, I don't know what we will do when we don't have her anymore. She is so laid back and easy going and puts up with so much from her pesty little sister! Ear biting, ankle biting, pouncing, you name it!
Hope everyone has a great weekend. I really don't have any plans for the weekend and it feels great!

Boring!

Well I am one of the most boring people lately. I have not been doing a whole lot so I don't have much to post about. Right now I am relaxing on the couch with my Lucie. I think the time change has really messed with her because she is asleep on the couch by 6:45....that never happens with her wild child self! Hunting season has started....pheasant I should say, so my husband and dogs have been going hunting. They are actually going tomorrow since Jeremy is out of school. I desperately need to do some Christmas shopping but I have yet to receive lists from a number of people!
Jeremy and I hope to attend the GCMS Football game this weekend. They are playing Kewanee in the state football playoffs. They are doing so well! We really hope they win! If they win this weekend they will make it to the semifinals and the finals will be at Memorial Stadium in Champaign. Our neighbor is the head coach so we are rooting the Falcons on to victory.
Part of being a Principal is you have to stay many nights for basketball games, etc. Well this week is a busy week for Jeremy at school. He was gone last night and tonight and will be gone another night this week. So my dogs and I are just hanging out at home.
Hope everyone has a great week! I am definitely ready for the weekend already and it is only Tuesday!

Happy Halloween!

Jeremy bought me flowers this week just because! What a great husband!

We had a great weekend. Friday started with Trick or Treat at work. Below are some pics I took of some of the kids that came through Trick or Treating. We allow co-workers that have kids to bring their kids in from 4-5 and every single office has candy. They really don't need to go trick or treating because they get buckets and bags full at our office. It is so much fun!

This is Tim one of my co-workers!

These little guys are so cute...they are twins and they were the Cowboy and the Horse..how cute!
Friday night Jeremy's parents came to town and we went to eat at Bayern Stube, the German Restaurant. They have been dying to try it out and it was sooooo good! We had a great meal. We were so full we came home and lounged and fell asleep early. Saturday we went to a few places in town, one place in particular that we went to was the Chocolate shop...we all got a piece of candy. Saturday afternoon we attended the GCMS High School football game. It was the first round of the IHSA State playoffs and since our neighbor is the coach, we wanted to be supportive and cheer on the Falcons to victory! All that screaming Jan did helped because they beat Riverdale. We gave away our tickets to the IL/Michigan game and Illinois played their best game all year. Glad we got a win out of our Illini, it was beginning to be a very sad season! Saturday night I made Italian Beef, cole slaw, and apple crisp and we had that and passed out candy to trick or treaters. It was so much fun and there were so many cute costumes. I made goodie bags for all the kids on our street! They had a pencil, tattoos, stickers, glow-bracelets, a packet of Kool-Aid and some candy in them. They were fun to put together.
Today is a very lazy Sunday for me. I did some housework and laundry but other than that I have just been relaxing. Jeremy had to go put up deer stands today.
Hope everyone has a great week!
